Grande Prairie area under freezing rain warning

A freezing rain warning has been issued for much of the Grande Prairie area as freezing rain is expected throughout the afternoon and evening.

Communities under the warning include the City of Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Valleyview, Peace River, Fairview, High Prairie, and Manning.

According to Environment Canada, a mixture of snow, freezing rain, and rain will begin this afternoon and move east throughout the evening. Precipitation is expected to end by Friday morning.

Residents should be mindful that surfaces like highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots could become icy and slippery, and drivers are asked to be prepared to adjust their driving accordingly to changing road conditions.
