PWPSD students and families encouraged to celebrate the joy of reading during Family Literacy Day

Students throughout the Peace Wapiti School Divison will celebrate Family Literacy Day throughout the end of the month with activities, spirit days, and more.

Family Literacy Day is a nationwide initiative designed to bring about awareness regarding the importance of reading and engaging in literacy-related activities as a family.

Different schools will observe the day differently; however, all PWPSD schools are encouraging family members to join students as they celebrate their love of reading.

Families and community members are invited to attend an afternoon of reading at Bonanza School from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. Additionally, students may bring in a gently used book for the school’s book swap.

Families of Teepee Creek School students can join students and staff on January 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for numerous activities including a book exchange, literacy games, and reading time in the gymnasium.

Family Literacy Day is celebrated annually on January 27th, and families are encouraged to engage with their kids about the importance of reading.

A full list of activities is available on the PWPSD’s website.
