Province invests $450K in Northern Alberta Development Bursary Program, County encourages student applications

The County of Grande Prairie is encouraging soon-to-be and current students to read up on the thousands of dollars in Northern Alberta bursaries available to those living in the north.

Recently, the Provincial Government invested an additional $450K in the Northern Alberta Development Bursary Program, meaning students can access up to $11,500 per year to help cover post-secondary education costs.

“With nearly $1.1 million in funding increases over the last two years, this investment will help Albertans achieve their education and career goals,” the province shared on social media.

The county adds that the money is not restricted to students already living in the north either, and full-time students planning on living in Northern Alberta could be eligible too.

Some additional funding opportunities for Northern Alberta scholars to be mindful of include the Northern Student Teacher Bursary for students enrolled in a teaching program, and the Northern Alberta Development Council Bursary for students who agree to live and work in Northern Alberta for one year of full-time employment.

Applications for all bursaries can be found online on the Province of Alberta’s website.
