Trapper Gord Homestead and Survival voted number one in Fishing Supplies during Community Votes

The Grande Prairie region’s iconic Trapper Gord Homestead and Survival store has been voted number one in the Fishing Supplies category during 2024’s Community Votes.

The self-proclaimed “greatest outdoor store in the world” is praised by many in the region for its wide selection of camping, hunting, and fishing supplies, and Store Manager Arina Siemens says the award is meaningful, as it speaks to the community’s love for the retailer.

“We love to know that our customers are looking at us as someone who has the best fishing supplies in Grande Prairie,” she says.

Siemens credits the store’s location along Highway 43 with creating a sort of “can’t miss it” attitude among Grande Prairie residents, along with word of mouth from customers who say the store is their “go-to” for their outdoor supplies.

“Lots of customers are putting our name out and making it known that we’re the go-to place for supplies, so that’s really nice,” she says.

When it comes to maintaining the number one spot, Siemens plans to focus on having a healthy stock of supplies for customers, saying the ultimate goal for this year is- “just keeping our customers happy.”
