A moment of silence today marks the Day of Mourning across Canada for workers killed on the job.
Last year, 188 Albertans died from a workplace injury or illness.
That number is up from 145 in 2012.
Earlier this morning a flag raising ceremony was held outside City Hall in Grande Prairie.

Ceremonies will likewise be held in communities across the country today, in hopes of bringing those numbers down through awareness and education.
