Police nab alleged vehicle thief

RCMP have arrested a man they believe is a prolific car thief. Mounties were doing surveillance on him and another suspect Monday, when the couple made their way to B.C.

With the help of Dawson Creek RCMP and Police Dog Services, they were able to track them until they were back in Alberta. 26 year old Jake Andrew Snow of Grande Prairie and 19 year old Jessica Louise Zatko of High Prairie were arrested at a gas station in Beaverlodge.

Snow is accused of stealing several vehicles from the area over the past month and a half. He also has a reported history of fleeing from police when they try to arrest him.

He’s facing a charge of theft of a truck over $5,000, as well as five counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one under $5,000. On top of that he’s charged with resisting arrest, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and possession of break in instruments and a controlled substance.

Zatko is also accused of having break in tools, a gun in the vehicle, and drugs on her. In addition, she’s charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
