Despite a ban that came into effect on January 1st, Albertans are still getting bugged by door-to-door salespeople hawking energy products and services.
Minister of Service Alberta Stephanie McLean reminds the public that they should never feel pressured or tricked into making a purchase on the spot. She says they’re monitoring the situation closely and will take further steps if necessary.
So far this year the province has gotten 18 complaints about door-to-door energy sales. Some of the used misleading methods like pretending to sell light bulbs or furnace filters to get into a home to sell a banned item, or telling customers they are conducting a survey or inspection to qualify for a non-existent rebate.
