Work is starting on a new area structure plan for land north of the Grande Prairie Airport and west of 116 Street. Area structure plans are meant to guide the city in long-term planning and development, integrating current residential, agricultural and recreation use.
The land includes Bear Creek, which the city considers a significant environmental asset. It hopes to create a plan that lets it and future development “co-exist in a compatible way.”
Landowners, residents and other stakeholders are invited to take part in an open house Thursday night at Country Roads RV Park on Township Road 722. It runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on a drop-in basis. There will be a short presentation at 6 p.m. and people will be able to see the first feedback the city and ISL Engineering has gotten from previous events.
It’s expected the ASP will take a year to finish.
