Students take Fort St. John school bus for joy ride

A group of children have reportedly been caught on camera stealing a school bus in Fort St. John, B.C. RCMP in that city says it heard about the theft of a bus from the School District 60 transportation parking lot the morning of August 26th.

Surveillance footage from the bus shows it was stolen around midnight with five young people inside, including what looks like two girls and three boys. The vehicle was vandalized and later found parked outside of town.

“These youth look like they had a good time and we are convinced they spoke to others about this incident,” says Constable Chad Neustaeter. “Incidents like this can become very dangerous, placing youths lives at risk.”

It’s estimated $5,000 worth of damage was done, but the bus was back on the road before the first day of school. Police are asking anyone with information on the theft or the suspects to contact the detachment.
