Dennis Rix named NPHL Best Centre

A member of the Grande Prairie Athletics has won a North Peace Hockey League award. Dennis Rix has been named this season’s best centre.

NPHL.com reports Rix was almost a unanimous choice, getting seven out of eight first place votes. The assistant captain was the league’s eighth highest scorer with 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 17 games.

Rix is the third Athletics player to win the award, following Rob Bowers in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 and Kelly McLeod in 2008/2009 and 2012/2013. He has also earned a spot on the East Division All-Star team, along with Athletics goaltender Kiefer Smiley.

Award winners and all-star teams are chosen by their rival clubs.
