The County of Grande Prairie has received just over $1.3 million to help shore up flood mitigation on the Wapiti River.
The money is part of a larger Alberta Community Resilience Program grant announcement Wednesday. It means work will begin on siltation slopes running along the river.
Sexsmith also received more than $1.1 million for the creation of berm wetlands and a new capture diversion drain. That’s all in an effort to try and curb consistent overland flooding in the area.
In all, $43 million was handed out for projects across Alberta.
