The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams claims to have identified at least eight child victims of a man charged with child pornography offences earlier this year. Numerous new charges related to child sexual exploitation have now been laid.
A home in Fox Creek and another in Eckville were searched by ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation unit on January 10th following a tip from authorities in Australia. At that time, 34-year-old Christopher Juneau of Eckville was charged with making child pornography, possessing child pornography, accessing child pornography, and voyeurism, as well as breaching conditions a little over a week later.
Since then, ICE says it has found new offences, alleging the eight victims were sexually assaulted at various times dating back to 2013. It’s noted that a number of potential victims came forward to police after news broke of the initial arrest, and that evidence was reportedly found on computers and other electronic devices seized from the two homes.
“Forensic analysis of Juneau’s phone and computers has so far yielded more than half a million images and videos of child sexual exploitation and voyeurism,” ALERT says. “ICE forensic technicians have yet to complete their full analysis.”
The new charges were laid on March 1st, bringing the total to 73. They include multiple counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, voyeurism, possessing, accessing, distributing and making child pornography, and breach of recognizance. Juneau has remained in custody since January 18th, when he was arrested by Sylvan Lake RCMP after allegedly breaching his release conditions surrounding internet access.
