RCMP in Alberta are cracking down on distracted drivers this month.
Research has shown that 20 to 30 per cent of all crashes are caused by distracted driving, and that distracted drivers are three times more likely to be involved in a collision.
Since provincial legislation came into effect in 2011, more than 60,000Â distracted driving charges have been laid, including 51 in just one day last month.
Police ask that before you drive, you put anything distracting out of reach, like the laptop one person was caught using while driving.
