A precautionary air quality advisory has been issued for northern Alberta. With all the wildfires currently burning, Alberta Health Services says the air could be smoky at times over the next few days and weeks.
Minor smoke conditions don’t normally cause issues for healthy people, but if they get worse, the smoke could be irritating to the eyes and throat, or cause shortness of breath. People with respiratory and cardiovascular conditions may notice their symptoms getting worse.
If you can taste or smell smoke in the air, AHS recommends you keep physical activity outdoors to a minimum, and keep windows, doors, and vents in your house or vehicle closed.
