Grande Prairie is set to get a better appreciation of what first responders in the community do. An event this weekend will include demonstrations from the RCMP’s Canine Unit and a mock emergency scenario, along with other displays, activities, and an obstacle course.
First Responders Appreciation Day is being held outside of the Grande Prairie Legion #54 on 101 Avenue on September 17th from 12 to 4 p.m. It will feature a parade with the Grande Prairie Marching Band and Grande Prairie Pipe and Drums, as well as the Grande Prairie Fire Department, RCMP, and City Enforcement Services in uniform.
As part of the day to celebrate first responders, there will be a barbecue, activities for children, and a jam session with local musicians to follow in the Legion at 5 p.m. The event is free for the public to attend.
