The County of Grande Prairie has issued a fire advisory for the entire county, including the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley, effective April 15th, until further notice. 

The Grande Prairie Forest Area remains fire free this season; however, controlled burning is underway in Sturgeon Lake to reduce the fire danger for the community. 

The Grande Prairie Forest Area has officially entered the second month of fire season, and while fire danger remains "low" in the region, the County of GP is reminding residents that fire permits are required to help keep fire season, fire-free. 

Grande Prairie's fire season has had a quiet start, and the County is encouraging residents to keep it that way. 

Members of the County Regional Fire Service responded to reports of a structure fire at the Motel 6 in Clairmont over the weekend. 

Grande Prairie City Council has approved applying for Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta Grants for the 2025 wildfire season. 

The County of Grande Prairie is once again encouraging residents to prepare emergency kits now that fire season is officially underway. 

The County of Grande Prairie has received the Regional Fire Service's 2024 Annual Report, which identifies several key difference-makers for the county to be mindful of ahead of the 2025 wildfire season. 

The Grande Prairie Fire Department has opened up applications for the return of their Camp F.I.R.E. initiative.
