An extreme cold warning has been issued for much of the Grande Prairie region, with the expectation that temperatures could fall as low as minus 45 overnight.Â
Grande Prairie looked like a certain four-letter word frozen over on the morning of February 4th, with temperatures dipping down as low as minus 38 degrees, making the Grande Prairie region one of the coldest places in Canada, and the world.Â
A snowfall warning has been issued for much of the Grande Prairie area, with the expectation that 10 to 15 centimetres will fall overnight and into Wednesday.Â
Grande Prairie's snowfall hasn't quite been record-setting, but it's no secret this winter has seen some of the most snow in the Grande Prairie region for some time.Â
The Grande Prairie region is cold—so cold that Environment Canada identified Teepee Creek as the coldest place in Alberta on the morning of November 25th.Â
The Grande Prairie Forest Area remains fire free this season; however, controlled burning is underway in Sturgeon Lake to reduce the fire danger for the community.Â
Formerly known as the Eastlink Centre Triathlon, this year's event will include the usual categories- Try-a-Tri, Kids of Steel, Sprint, and Team Sprint, with new branding this time around.Â
