The City of Grande Prairie has initiated a two-week residential snow-clearing rotation, despite officials insisting the 13-centimetre threshold has not been reached. 

City snow and ice control crews are continuing snow clearing and maintenance as the city prepares for a highly anticipated melt in the coming days. 

Grande Prairie looked like a certain four-letter word frozen over on the morning of February 4th, with temperatures dipping down as low as minus 38 degrees, making the Grande Prairie region one of the coldest places in Canada, and the world. 

Grande Prairie's 40-below temperatures have created a disruption in snow-clearing services in the county. 

Given all of Grande Prairie's recent snowfall, residents might be wondering when their streets will be cleared, and with no sign of slowing down, the city has issued a reminder regarding its residential snow-clearing schedule. 

Grande Prairie celebrated Dry January in its own way this year, with very little snow all month long; however, the snowless streak came to an end on the 28th, prompting removal crews to begin their work once again. 

The County of Grande Prairie's snow removal crews will begin residential snow clearing in two areas on January 21st. 

Yesterday was a busy night for the Alberta RCMP, with officers responding to a total of 149 reported collisions, which led them to issue a province-wide warning for motorists to stay off the roads.
